This is often referred to as Imperialism. And it is evident when British colonies the American colony by extracting raw material such as cotton, tobacco, and timber from the American colony for industrialization in faraway Britain.
This is also similar to how Spain extracted south America for raw materials to refine in Spain during the transatlantic slave trade or age of discovery.
crop rotation kepy different plants in the soil instead of once constintly. when switching out plants you have different nutrients being absorbed at different speeds and different roots growing differently therfore the spoil and water flow have to adapt and carry fresh nutrients to carry the constant changes that were going on in the soil.
